CIPD welcomes Government taskforce report on human capital

The Government should endorse the recommendations set out in the Accounting for People report according to Duncan Brown, Assistant Director-General of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, speaking yesterday at its launch. In particular, the CIPD urges that while the Government should follow the recommendation for companies to report on their approach to human capital management in their annual report and accounts, it should not adopt a prescriptive set of measures but adopt the flexible and evolutionary approach proposed, based on "general principles to guide decisions."
CIPD survey shows marked slowdown in labour turnover

The latest Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development's (CIPD) Labour Turnover survey shows a marked decrease in labour turnover in 2001. The survey shows an overall labour turnover rate of 18.2%, moving back into line with the pattern shown since the survey began in 1995. The rate was almost exactly the same as 1999, but well down on the 26.6% recorded in 2000.
