Instructional Designer of the Year, Laura Hooper describes it as the highlight of her career, whilst Afiniti reflects on picking up its award for Training Company of the Year.
Now that the dust has settled on what was a memorable night at the Dorchester Hotel earlier this month (2 February 2012) the realisation of success at The Learning Awards 2012 is starting to sink in for the awards winners.
Attending her first Learning Awards was Laura Hooper of Unicorn Training Group. Laura was listed as a finalist for the Instructional Designer of the Year award and was delighted to win Gold in what was a very competitive category. Laura said:
"It was such a surprise to win and I'm delighted! I put it all down to the team I worked closely with on the project; I was purely the figurehead who was put forward for the award. We are lucky with the creative atmosphere we work in at Unicorn Training that allows us to produce effective and interesting learning. I didn’t expect to win, but I’ll always be proud of the fact my work was recognised in this way. It is the highlight of my career so far."
London based training company, Afiniti were one of the biggest winners on the night picking up the coveted Gold Award for Training Company of the Year, whilst Afiniti’s Learning Consultant, Jim Hainie collected the Gold Award for Trainer of the Year. Afiniti also picked up a Silver Award for External Project of the Year with Network Rail.
Delighted with Afiniti’s achievements at the Learning Awards was Managing Director, Corrina Jorgensen. She said: “2011 economic and business challenges continue and never has it been more pertinent to connect learning and development with performance. Our clients tell us the importance of making change stick through engaging, learning and ultimately changing behavior to drive business benefits and continuously improve ways of working. To have achieved an unprecedented four shortlists and win three awards is amazing. We are pleased as punch – very humbled as it is an incredibly competitive space with over 160 entrants this year; and of course is testament to our great talent, amazing people and absolute passion for doing the right things and doing things right.”
