Xyleme, Inc., a leading provider of 100% XML and standards-based learning content management and mobile learning solutions, today announced the immediate availability of Xyleme LCMS 3.5. Driven from Xyleme’s adoption of the Agile Development model, the full release, from coding to QA through to delivery, was executed in approximately 90 days and supports key customer requirements including:
- Support for Common Cartridge 1.1, the latest IMS academic standard.
- Enhanced Performance Support outputs with custom branding.
- Filtered authoring views for rapid content updates.
- Workflow improvements including an updated user interface for web-based review and collaboration.
- New content QA tools including an internal cross-reference and link validator.
According to a survey of global executives by McKinsey & Company, over 70% of respondents have deployed or piloted Agile Development within their organizations in order to be more responsive to changing business conditions. By implementing an Agile Development framework, Xyleme is embracing an approach that delivers very fast, iterative product development through close collaboration with its user base. The continuous feedback and program refinement cycle that results from this model is allowing new Xyleme LCMS versions to be released every three months compared to the 12-18 month cycle favored by competitors.
“Implementing Agile Development has allowed us to bring new features to our customers in a matter of weeks, rather than once a year,” commented Greg Schottland, Vice President of Operations at Xyleme. “We can now provide new functionality requested by users soon after it is requested. We have also converted management of all our project work to Agile, providing a much higher degree of implementation predictability for our clients.”
