Is your business considering Windows Vista? Find out more about effective deployment at QA-IQ's summit
QA

1-Feb-2007 » Training Press Releases » With the release of Windows Vista many IT Managers will be reviewing if and when to upgrade. At its free summit QA-IQ will demonstrate how Windows Vista has significantly simplified Business Desktop Deployment and can offer companies a valuable tool for upgrading without the complex processes required in the past.

Taking place at the Microsoft Campus, Thames Valley Park, on the 18th of April, the free community event gives technical managers and senior IT professionals the chance to understand how their business can prepare for deployment and make the most of the tools available.

Speaking at the event will be QA-IQ's award-winning Principal Technologist, Dave Britt, who has been working with Microsoft's UK Deployment Centre of Excellence and other Microsoft partners to share expertise and understand best practices and methodologies around deployment of Windows Vista. At this event the Dave, joined by guest speakers from Microsoft, IQ-Sys and Camwood, will share knowledge and experience on subjects such as:

·Today's deployment challenges and innovations in deployment

·How to simplify deployment of Windows Vista using Business Desktop Deployment (BDD 2007)

·The technical tools involved in creating a "Master" or "Gold" Vista build and the use of Light Touch and Zero Touch deployment technologies

·The challenges around preparing a portfolio of applications for Migration to Windows Vista and leveraging the migration activity to build a more dynamic application environment

·Deploying Office 2007

Keynote speaker at the event will be Garry Corcoran, Infrastructure Optimisation Lead for Microsoft UK's Enterprise and Partner Group, comments: "This deployment summit is invaluable for businesses to help answer the questions that are raised and decisions that need to be made before any upgrade: When do I move operating systems? How difficult will it be? Will the business really benefit from this? How much disruption will this create? The summit will help you understand the people, the process and technologies required to make your deployment successful. Even if you have decided that you will not be moving for a further 18 months, this summit will help you prioritise what you could be doing now to build confidence in the business that any upgrade will be closely controlled."

Adam Matthews, a Virtualisation specialist at IQ-Sys, the UK's leading provider of intelligent channel solutions, has extensive experience with Microsoft SoftGrid technology, and has been involved in most customer deployments in the UK. In his sessions he will cover planning and implementation best practices, and, using live demos, will explain how Microsoft SoftGrid integrates with other complementary technologies in your environment.

Paul Schnell, Director of Technology at Camwood Limited will also be speaking at the event; "Application compatibility is seen as one of the major roadblocks to adopting a new version of Windows .In reality, a high percentage of applications will work and with effective planning and preparation, the migration process can be smoothed. By preparing applications for future change, organisations can save a considerable amount of time and effort."
