Learn.com announces free online education and structured job development programs to help the nation's transitioning workforce
Learn.com | Sunrise, FL

19-Feb-2009 » Training Press Releases » Learn.com®, the leader in on-demand workforce development and productivity, announced today that the company plans to launch the Learn.com Personal Edition in April 2009 which will offer free web-based training and education to help individuals acquire new skills needed for the transforming economy. The Learn.com Personal Edition (LPE) will greatly prepare the displaced workforce affected by the downturn in the world economy to improve their hirability and competitive advantage.

Users of the Learn.com Personal Edition will be able to select any desired job profile and take essential training in order to acquire the skills needed to achieve a Learn.com SkillScore® for that job.  Users may also create their own content for publication and revenue sharing. The Learn.com SkillScore tracking will allow individuals to be business-ready for these new jobs and will provide employers with comfort in knowing these top Learn.com SkillScore candidates do not need the typical three to six months of job on-boarding to acquire the required skills to be an exemplary performer.

Throughout the month of March, the first 500,000 registrants on Learn.com's new Personal Edition Website, found at www.learn.com/personal will receive a premium 90-day pass providing them with access to more than 1,000 courses, multiple job profiles and the ability for them to create their own courses for re-sale. Topics for these courses include medical and financial training, accounting, college courses, sales skills, Microsoft Office & Windows courses and other general business skills and certifications.

"Learn.com grew up on the web providing individuals one central location to learn, teach and meet. This new Personal Edition is a culmination of a decade's work and will be the world's largest source of formal and informal education and training, in a self paced and structured format," said Jim Riley, Chief Executive Officer at Learn.com. "This site will allow individuals to search the top job profiles in the United States, visually see the required skill sets, and immediately begin to take the training mapped to those skill sets. Furthermore, this site will enable any subject matter expert in the world to create and publish a course, lesson, or knowledge object of any kind to the user generated content library within the site and allow that author to share in revenue generated by their content. The Learn.com Personal Edition is truly - the smartest place on the web™."

Individuals interested in taking advantage of this free offer can register at www.learn.com/personal.  This offer is only valid for the first 500,000 registrants.

Over the last decade, Learn.com has sold millions of interactive training CD-ROMs and online courses through its retail sales channel, consumer and business websites to train employees at companies of all sizes, including Fortune 500 firms and federal, state, and local governments.
