Learn.com's employee-driven career management module, MyProfile, reviewed by Bersin & Associates in recent bulletin
Learn.com | Sunrise, FL

2-Apr-2009 » Training Press Releases » Learn.com®, the leader in on-demand workforce development and productivity, announced today that the company's MyProfile® module for the LearnCenter® Platform was recently reviewed in a research bulletin by Bersin & Associates, a leading industry research and advisory firm. The bulletin, written by David Mallon, principal analyst, is called Learn.com Enables Employee-Centric Career Management with MyProfile. The bulletin provides tremendous insight into the critical talent management strategy gaps for organizations of all sizes and how the MyProfile module addresses these issues.

Bersin & Associates High-Impact Talent Management research found that a well- defined approach to career management is paramount in  improving an organization's ability to keep top talent satisfied and engaged; providing opportunities for development to close critical skills gaps; and helping to ensure business continuity.

The MyProfile module gives employees the ability to manage their own careers by providing and align themselves with business strategies, to determine skill gaps based on current skills and those required for other desired roles, and to create their own career development plans.

According to the research, "With MyProfile, Learn.com is addressing all three higher-value benefits of a self-service approach to career management by (1) Allowing the employee to identify and communicate his / her desired potential promotional goals; (2) Providing an approval workflow to ensure that the employee's choice in career management paths remains in alignment with the needs of the business; and (3) Enabling the employee to build connections to other employees with similar career interests (for support on the journey) or already in desired roles (for mentorship)."

The report goes on to say, "MyProfile is a powerful, user-driven example of a key element of the talent management suite value proposition that we call 'profile management.' In combination with competency management, profile management serves as the data foundation for all talent management processes. The 'profile' contains all the data about an employee. Comprehensive profile management supports the capture and management of information for employees, job profiles and job families."

"Learn.com, as a provider, has proven its ability to provide easy-to-implement and easy-to-use versions of complex, integrated talent management functionalities. MyProfile is a great example of the company's product development philosophy - and it fills a definite need for employee-driven career management tools. To be an effective and active participant in the talent management processes of the organization, employees must be given easy opportunities to contribute, the necessary information and tools to communicate their needs, and the support of the managers and business leaders along the way. HR practitioners should find MyProfile and the rest of the LearnCenter platform a valuable component of their efforts to design talent management processes and technology solutions that keep employees aligned and engaged."

The Bersin & Associates bulletin also recognized the LearnCenter platform for being a user friendly cost effective solution for organizations: "LearnCenter is an easy-to-use, portal-style LMS designed to help organizations (and departments) manage the development of their employees at a very low cost."
