Kathryn Benzine, Director of Professional Development at the Institute of Hospitality said:

"We have worked closely with Aurion to develop a suite of e-learning units for our members that includes: Effective Study Skills; Information and Research Handling in Hospitality and Tourism; Introduction to Personal Development in Hospitality and Tourism; Managing Your Professional Portfolio in Hospitality and Tourism and French Language Skills for Hospitality. The e-learning programmes will be rolled out from August 2010 and we encourage all our members, students and those working in the industry to give them a try!"

Hospitality and Tourism professionals can access the free e-learning courses via the Institute of Hospitality Online Learning Website (http://moodle.instituteofhospitality.org)

Each course takes about 20 -30 minutes to complete and can be used to show evidence of completing continuing professional development (CPD) activities. They can also contribute credits to the Institute of Hospitality Management Qualifications following registration for an assessment.

Speaking about the project, Dr. Maureen Murphy, Director of Aurion Learning said:

"This project represents the start of a new and exciting relationship with the Institute of Hospitality who contracted us to develop and expand its portfolio of e-learning courses.

The challenge for us was to create a suite of engaging e-learning programmes that members of the Institute can use to support them in their continuing professional development. Our e-learning units pull together sound educational content with best practice instructional design and high quality graphic design, audio recordings, animations and interactive quizzes and games.

We're proud of the e-learning programmes that we have developed for the Institute of Hospitality and we hope to continue our relationship with them in the future."
